# Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Canonical CloudStack KVM template rebuilt and validated on 2026-08-10 from the official Ubuntu 20.04 release KVM cloud image.

The official cloud image already included OpenSSH and cloud-init. The build added only `qemu-guest-agent`, enabled CloudStack root-password provisioning, and created a fixed 1 GiB swap file. No packages were removed or generally upgraded; the validated guest contains 596 packages.

## CloudStack registration

- Hypervisor: KVM
- Format: QCOW2
- OS type: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- HVM: Yes
- Password enabled: Yes
- SSH key enabled: Yes
- Public: No
- Featured: No
- Template details: none

Do not copy transient CloudStack runtime details such as `Message.ReservedCapacityFreed.Flag`.

## Verification

Run before registration:

```bash
sha256sum ubuntu-20.04.qcow2
qemu-img check ubuntu-20.04.qcow2
qemu-img info ubuntu-20.04.qcow2
```

Expected SHA-256:

```text
64f097a563181a9af04b13fb8b6546dcbeaac1a9caf5712bb71b51c9b44da73b  ubuntu-20.04.qcow2
```

The image passed Base, Pro and Ultra acceptance tests, including reboot. The root filesystem expanded to 30, 50 and 80 GiB; the fixed 1 GiB swap activated before and after reboot; cloud-init 24.4.1 used the CloudStack datasource with `errors: []` and no recoverable warnings; networking, password-only root SSH, SSH key delivery, hostname assignment and QEMU guest agent were validated. No failed systemd units remained.

## Lifecycle note

Ubuntu 20.04 ended standard support on 2025-05-31. Customer deployments require Ubuntu Pro/ESM for continued security maintenance.

This is the only retained Ubuntu 20.04 artifact. The superseded template and the unmodified cloud-image control were removed after this cloud-image-based template passed acceptance.
